If you’ve spent any time in Travel Town, you already know it’s more than just merging random objects — it’s a delicate dance of saving resources, planning your moves, and making sure you’re never caught short when the perfect opportunity comes along. Whether you’re stockpiling coins, hoarding energy, or figuring out the best way to use those precious gems, resource management is everything.
Here’s how to play smart and stay ahead.
How you should be using coins

Coins might feel plentiful at first, but once you start upgrading buildings and clearing tougher orders, you’ll realize just how important they are. As you progress in the game, buildings will start costing more and more.
Use coins strategically
The first thing to remember is to use coins strategically. Save them for important and essential building upgrades instead of wasting thousands of coins to complete unnecessary tasks.
The undo-redo trick
Items like the Lapis Tiara are a goldmine. Sell them for coins, then hit undo, and sell again. It’s a well-known little trick to max out daily coin goals without draining your actual bank. Lots of players on Reddit use this strategy and it’s shown to be very effective for them.
Start with hard orders
In can be tempting to start with the easy tasks but they are the ones that give the least payouts. ALWAYS start with hard or very hard orders because you will get more payouts and bigger story progress bonuses.
Never get too comfortable with your coin stash — big story upgrades can eat through it faster than you’d expect!
Optimising your energy

Energy is the heartbeat of your board. You just can’t play without it.
Claim your free energy
You can head over to our Travel Town free energy page to get three or four free energy links per day. The links are official rewards published by the developers of the game. We just stock them all here to make it easier for you. Don’t forget to also watch your free energy ads every single day. Missing even one can really set you back over time.
Buy smartly with your gems
Only buy the first 100-energy bundle each day for 10 gems. Don’t buy again on that day because the prices go up a lot after the first purchase.
Event energy is sacred
When you’re in an event, treat event-specific energy like rare diamonds. It’s often way harder to replace, and it’ll let you cruise through event tasks while others stall.
Always plan a “restocking session” right before going to sleep — load up all your generators so you can wake up with a fresh board.
Using premium gems
Gems are the premium currency — and trust me, Travel Town knows exactly how tempting it is to spend them. Resist the urge!
How to spend your gems
As we mentioned earlier, there is only one main thing you should be spending your gems on. That is the daily 100 energy deal which costs 10 gems. They can also, in some cases, go towards expanding your inventory or buying jokers.
What not to spend your gems on
Although it can be tempting, don’t waste gems by buying crates or popping bubbles. You may do this only when it’s essential for an event.
Stretch your gems as much as possible
If you do decide to spend real money, know that larger gem packs usually give more gems per dollar. So it’s better to make a bigger purchase instead of multiple small ones if you do decide on paying.
Saving your gems for inventory expansions early on will make late-game events and challenges so much less stressful.
The priceless jokers
When it comes to merging high-level items, jokers are absolutely priceless.
- Use for Expensive Merges: Only use jokers when an item would cost thousands of energy to build manually. (Think final items from splitters or rare story items.)
- Not for Small Wins: Don’t waste jokers on low- or mid-tier items just to save a few minutes — that’s like using a golden ticket on a free ice cream.
Combine splitters + jokers to turbocharge your high-end board builds without draining your energy bar dry.
Using crates and splitters
- Blue Crates: Merge crates fully before opening them. A higher-tier crate gives exponentially better rewards.
- Splitters: Think of splitters like magic cloning machines. The higher the item’s level you split, the more value you create. Save them for big-ticket items, not throwaway merges.
If it feels like you’re “wasting” a splitter on something small, you probably are.
